Along The Road

March met us with lots of milestones! First dentist appointment AND first gymnastics class for the little one, both on the same day! L turned 6, and we celebrated with a trip to the beach. When the instructor pulled out this snake, the little one turned back and said to me, "maybe it's a nice snake," with shoulders shrugged an a nonchalant expression. I love the laid back optimism!  No fear! Usually on co-op days each girl goes to her age-specific class. Well, it's been a while since I've documented our journey online, but that doesn't mean we haven't been really busy with all kinds of learning, field trips, and play dates. Here are some highlights from February! We always try to make Math as fun and concrete as possible, so when we were learning about cylinders, spheres, and cones we searched for examples in our classroom.   This.Right.Here! This is my reward, my payment, my blessing for walking the path to which God called us. Every brick wall and bad attitude (mine and hers) just melts away in moments like these. She wrote me this note in church one Sunday.     We've worked really hard this year in Math to learn how to count money. January has been just a delightful month! With Spring-like weather, we've spent a lot of time on the playground, riding bikes, and doing school on the porch. We've settled into a good rhythm post-holidays. As I was uploading photos, I realized how many hands-on activities we were able to do with math. Not usually my favorite subject, but we had fun with it! And now some pictures of our January fun... We got a paper airplane kit in a kid's meal and decided to head outside and make predictions about which would go furthest and straightest. Since the hubs gets off early on Fridays (and since we were really struggling with counting change), we decided it was his turn to teach math for a day. He of course made it SO fun and exciting by counting the change up on numbers written on the driveway and letting L earn prizes. We also worked on liquid measurements.
